Private & Small Group Instruction
Move with ease. Breathe with clarity. Live with balance.
A calm, precise and deeply grounded Taiji practice for people who value quality, continuity and long-term wellbeing.
If you’re based on Madeira and looking for a way to improve how your body feels, reduce stress and move more naturally, Taiji could be exactly what you need.
Wu Taiji Funchal offers closed, small-group Taiji courses in a quiet outdoor setting in Funchal. This work is designed for established expats and long-term residents who seek physical stability, mental clarity and a dignified way to stay healthy and present as they age.
No fitness trends. No mass classes. No constant beginner turnover.
Only focused instruction, personal guidance and a refined learning atmosphere.
Taiji is not about performance or speed. It is a method for cultivating stability, coordination and calm strength — physically, mentally and emotionally.
In short: this Taiji practice supports healthy ageing, inner calm, physical sovereignty and a refined quality of life.
Our Taiji is rooted in the traditional Wu Taijiquan system, focusing on alignment, relaxation, breath, and internal connection. Instead of using force, you learn to move with structure and efficiency, making it a method that enhances how your body works every day.
Your training follows a respected line of transmission:
Yang Lu Chan → Yang Ban Hou → Wu Quan Yu → Wu Jianquan → Ma Yueliang → Zhou Zhong Fu → (European Representatives) SiFu Sergio Iadarola & SiFu Kleber Battaglia.
Sifu Tanja continues her training under SiGong Zhou Zhong Fu, with ongoing internal guidance from SiFu Sergio Iadarola, ensuring that Funchal classes reflect the Eternal Spring Institute’s approach. The system includes traditional forms like the Short and Long Form, Fast Form, Spear, Sword and pushing hands training such as the 9 Palace Steps.
Its blend of relaxed movement, structural alignment and breath-led practice encourages healthier ageing and improved physical stability. Learning and refining the forms keeps the mind active — a meaningful way to support cognitive health, especially for adults in midlife and older.
